Extensive Reading #4

The most interesting fact which I read on the class is that incentive makes a reverse effect.
In this chapter, In order to reduce the number of parents who are late to pick up their child at the day care center, the economists set up the fine, but the number of them was increased conversely as a result.
The reason why I was interested in this fact is that I had ever thought that the incentive always makes issues improved. Therefore, I was surprised at this fact, and I was attracted to why such a phenomenon happens.

Intensive Reading #3 part 2

I am surprised that the author mentions to the morality in this chapter because I have never thought economics and morality as a pair. Moreover, it is interesting that each of them has opposite definition, and my most impressive point is that "Morality, it could be argued, represents the way that people would like the world to work----whereas economics represents how it actually does work".

Intensive Reading #2

In this chapter, the author mention hidden side of phenomenon by using below examples.

 <examples>
#1. Why has the crime rate decreased for decade?
#2. Is it valuable to hire a real-estate agent?
#3. The relevant between a winner and money in an election.

At the first example, the author shows us about decrease of the crime rate in spite of the prediction which was thought that the crime rate would increase 15-100% in 1995.
Then he describes that hidden factor of it was legalized abortion, so he try to explain hidden side of everything easily.
Next, he mentions about that we are likely to think that hiring a real-estate agent is the best way to sell our house, but he describes that they do not give precedence to our house's trade because the fact is that 3% of  houses in Chicago are owned by real-estate agents.
The third, he touches about relevant between a winner and money, and he interprets amount of using money is not important to win.

Next, he will show more examples.

Reading impression

I just have finished to read Ch1, so I noticed 2 points.

1.Make sure main character. (economist and journalist)
2.This book tries to explain economics by using familiar examples.

I'm not good at economics, so this book seems to be hard for me,
but I want to try and understand this book well.
